DISCOVERING RIPARIAN ZONE | WADE INTO THE WORLD AT WATER'S EDGE
Tuesday, May 21st, 7:00 - 8:30PM

Join our very own Andrew Middlebrook, Director of Land Stewardship, and discover riparian zones and the important role they play in the landscape! Riparian zones are the lands along the edges of rivers, streams, lakes, and other water bodies whose soils and vegetation are shaped by the presence of water, making them different from upland, or dry, habitats.

During this presentation and guided walk, Andrew will explore the abundant diversity within a riparian zone focusing on the native plants and animals that rely on them for habitat. We will also discuss these areas' important roles in preventing erosion, controlling water temperatures, filtering pollutants, and so much more. Come prepared with an open mind, a desire to learn, and a pair of waterproof boots!

This program is being held through a special partnership with the New York New Jersey Trail Conference - Trail and Speaker Series.  Location:  600 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ 07430
