FULL MOON OWL PROWL at Weil Preserve

Celebrate the full moon with an unforgettable Owl Prowl led by wildlife educator Chris Evers, founder of Animal Embassy.
Participants will take a guided hike through the meadows of Weil Preserve, illuminated by the glow of the full moon, with the opportunity to listen for and search for wild owls in their natural habitat — a magical experience for all ages. The event will feature a live owl and an introduction to owl behavior, migration, and digestion. Participants will learn how these nocturnal hunters live and travel, as well as how their unique digestive system works, including the casting of pellets. Chris will provide a demonstration to tie these themes together.

Join us for a special volunteer day on Giving Tuesday! On this global day of generosity, we’re inviting community members to give back not just with donations, but with their time and energy to care for the land we all share.
Our Stewardship Team will provide all tools, materials, and guidance. Volunteers of all ages are welcome — whether you’re a seasoned nature enthusiast or simply looking for a meaningful way to make an impact close to home.
By volunteering, you’ll help preserve the natural beauty of Baxter Preserve while celebrating the true spirit of Giving Tuesday: strengthening community and protecting what we value most.

SEASONAL DECORATION CRAFTING WORKSHOP at Weil Preserve

Celebrate the season with us at Weil Preserve! Gather indoors for a festive, hands-on workshop where we’ll use natural, sustainable materials — like acorns, pinecones, evergreen clippings, and branches — to create unique seasonal decorations.
This workshop is open to all ages — kids, adults, families, and friends. Our team will provide supplies, guidance, and inspiration, so everyone can craft their own eco-friendly décor to take home. Along the way, you’ll also learn simple tips for sustainable decorating and how to responsibly source natural materials.

WINTER SOLSTICE HIKE at Baxter Preserve

Celebrate the Winter Solstice with us at Baxter Preserve in North Salem, NY! Together, we’ll mark the longest night of the year with a guided hike to the preserve’s highest point, where we’ll watch the sun set and welcome the return of longer days.
This hike is perfect for nature lovers of all ages — a chance to pause, reflect, and experience the magic of the season outdoors. Dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a headlamp or flashlight (phone lights work too) for the walk back after dark.
