"Give-A-Dam" and Help Us Restore the Baxter Pond Dam

The Baxter Pond Dam needs essential repairs — and we need your help to make it happen.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has directed the North Salem Open Land Foundation (NSOLF) to carry out key rehabilitation work to keep the dam safe and functioning. This includes:

  • Replacing and repairing concrete walls and spillways
  • Removing trees and stumps from the downstream slope
  • Repairing or replacing the dam’s low-level valve

Estimated project cost: $380,000 (including Engineering and Construction costs)
Construction is scheduled to begin in October and will take approximately three months.

For a small nonprofit like NSOLF, this is a major undertaking. But with your support, we can protect Baxter Pond, preserve critical habitat, and continue caring for the natural spaces we all love.
