PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Participants will assist staff in identifying and removing invasive plants that threaten the local landscape by crowding out native species that provide vital habitat and sustenance to wildlife. Participants will also conduct national resource surveys, plantings, and general preserve and trail maintenance throughout NSOLF properties.
TAKEAWAY SKILLS
● Ability to identify local invasive and native species of flora and fauna
● Safest, most appropriate methods for removal of invasive species
● How to identify and manage ecosystems according to NYS regulations
● Documentation of fieldwork data
● Proper survey methods via cellular devices and GPS programs
● Designing and maintaining sustainable trails
● Teamwork and communication skills
